Receiving texts sent from anywhere in the World

Local Texts: texts sent from a ham who is using the same repeater that you are currently monitoring. You receive them without the help of the Brandmeister network.

Network Transferred Texts: when sent, these texts will get to you no matter what repeater you are currently monitoring,
regardless of where they were sent from...thanks to Brandmeister!

FYI; not only are there local & network forwarded texts... there are two other specifications;
texts sent to a specific user ID... and texts sent to an entire group.
Example: a text sent to group number 310557 (and not to an individual ID) will be received any anyone tuned to this group number.

To receive Network forwarded texts you will need to make a setting selection via the Brandmeister web site Self Care section. Once activated... any TEXT sent to your personal digital ID number... regardless of the location of the sender,...will immediately be sent & routed to you. Brandmeister makes note of where you last talked through... and will send the text to this last known location (repeater).

Note: there is no storage capability on Brandmeister though; if you switched channels on your radio and haven't PTT'd on the new channel ... Brandmeister will send the text to the previous repeater/group you had used; you would not receive it.

Allowing Brandmeister to forward texts through their network to you is easy; but kinda weird at the same time. Here's what you need do:

* log into Brandmeister Self Care, click HERE

note; the Self Care section of Brandmeister may be a different account than your main Dashboard sign-in. If your current Brandmeister callsign and password don't work here... you'll need to click on "not a member? Register" and get that set up first. Your Brandmeister User Dashboard account and SelfCare account... can have the same log-in credentials if you want.

* Once into Self Care, click on the "Brand" pulldown and select your radio type. For my radio collection, "Chinese Radio" was the proper selection for all of them.

* at the bottom of the page click "SAVE".

Thats it ! Apparently Brandmeister needs you to identify which type of radio you are using - before porting texts through.

You should now receive both Local texts and Network forwarded texts.
