Toshiba 56X81 Moving Hints

Pronto CCF

This rptv is very well boxed and protected. The width of the shipping box is 31-3/4"; luckily my front door open width was 34", so I was able to carry the set into my entryway without removing it from the shipping carton. After removing the top and surrounding sides cardboard you will find a well designed bottom support piece with much rigid foam to absorb shocks from shipping. Unfortunately, this base makes it difficult to be removed from underneath the set. You need to have the rptv lifted and someone pull the base out from underneath it. The base is so well at supporting the whole TV, that you can't get your hands underneath the ends to pick it up.

The following pics show some hidden "grab-holes" that will assist in lifting.

From the front; remove both speaker grilles. They are velcro'd on with that stiff plastic velcro. Feel underneath for a recess area that allows you to put your hand in, then pull the grille out from the bottom. With the grilles removes, a grab-hole will be visible. In this pic, look just underneath and to the right of the speaker. To the left of the grab-hole is the access cover for the electronic focus controls.

If you remove the rear bottom access cover, more grab-holes will be visible.

Once off the cardboard/foam support base, the rptv is on a good set of rollers.

In this next pic note the empty " shelf " just above the heat sinks. Is this where the internal HDTV tuner would be located?

Once I had this rear access cover off, I inspected all cables and connectors to be sure they were fully seated before the first turn-on. In this same pic, notice the small white connector beneath the left heatsink edge, on the left-rear corner of the circuitboard. This plug was half pulled off...good thing I checked! This connector is the main 120vac input to the powersupply.

More to come after I have a chance to set everything up this weekend.
