How I installed the $8.95 All Electronics Aura transducers.

TPRO MAIN

Here is a pic of the beastie:

(this is the 25w model and I'm told are all sold out as well as the 35w model)

Here are the love seats I will install the transducers into:

The pic below, love seat is flipped on its back, foot rest is down on the right , seat-backs are at the top of the pic.

Next, I have zoomed in on where the wood frames of the seat and the back meet each other. This is where I decided the best location would be, trying to shake both the seat and seat-back.

Below is the wood carrier I cut out of 3/4" plywood. It is notched out where the seat back reclining mechanism has to travel. I cut out a 3 3/4" hole for the Aura to sit into.

Now I have installed the plywood carrier. It's hard to see, but the flat part of the carrier is screwed into the seat frame, the edge of the carrier rests up against the seat-back frame.

Some  shots below with transducer installed. Note that I installed a shaker in the other half as well.

I walked around to the back of the love seat to show that I also screwed the carrier's edge into the seat-back frame. Of course, I glued the carrier in as well.

I am driving the Aura's with a 100w subwoofer amp module, pulled from the powered sub I was using to shake the couch; connected to the LFE out (along with my main Velo sub). I have the shaker amp's crossover set to 60hz, althogh these AUra specials seem to start dropping out above 40hz.

These sub-amp modules sell below $100 from places like MCM and Parts Express; and these amps have a volume control, auto turn on, adjustable crossover control, and phase reversal switches.

NOTE: The surface area of the Aura faceplate is the same as the area of the mounting flange (within a half of a sq. in. of each other). Use whatever mounting method suits your needs best.

Also, I was told by a knowledgeable person that "face mounting" where one does NOT cut a 3 3/4" hole - requires a hole (that matches the 1" hole on the face) to allow for breathing and cooling; FWIW.
