Yvonne's Quilt Collection

I found this full size quilt at an antique store in Waynesville, Ohio. I've always loved the contrast of blue and white. I especially love the close hand quilting. The back of the quilt is as beautiful as the front.

This was hand quilted circa 1930. I found it at a quilt show in Lebanon Ohio. I love the subtle colors with the mostly white background and close rows of quilting. It hangs on a quilt rack in the livingroom.

This is a king size quilt, I worked on it for six years. It's machine pieced and hand quilted. I used white muslin for the backing. It was on the bed for two years, until I noticed the dark blue squares fade a bit. Time to put it away.

My grandmother made this quilt when my Dad was young. She later gave it to my Mom and Dad as a wedding gift. It was recently handed it down to me! It hangs on an oak quilt rack on my sewing room wall.

This is the monster that I am working on now. I saw the an example of this quilt hanging in a local quilting store "The Daisy Barrel". I was searching for a quilt pattern to make that would match our livingroom. The pattern was published in a Better Homes and Gardens quilting magazine a few years ago. I tried to show the detail of the quilting on the top in the first picture. The middle square is quilted but the ones to each side are not done yet. I have 4 of the 12 blocks quilted so far. The second picture shows the detail of one of the borders. I just loved this border. There are diamonds in each of the fabrics used, all lined up in a border placed in the order of the quilt blocks. It will take me forever to quilt around all those diamonds! I chose a subtle printed fabric for the backing. I didn't want to use the typical plain fabric. You can't really see it in the picture but, the backing is off white with tan "Krinkle" lines throughout. It's easier to see the quilting detail on the back in a picture.

"Bargello Glory"

I was inspired to work on this quilt after the Sept 11th tragedy. It is machine pieced and quilted with gold embroidery thread. The blue area includes 50 individually stitched stars. Along the stripes I used a reinforced stitch so it would stand out, almsost like a gold braid. The inner white border and outer black border are done in a meandering pattern. The corner star squares and the gold inner border are stitched with a traditional quilting stitch. It is hung by a wrought iron rod with oak leaf ends on oak supports.

Small Quilts

These are both wall hangings. I made the one on the left. The hearts and leaves are applique, it is hand quilted.

I won the one on the right at an auction to raise money for local school programs. My friend and neighbor made this one, it's machine pieced and hand quilted.
